WHATS WRONG WITH HIP HOP?

Def Jam has officially announced that Fabolous' album is going to come out on June 12, despite being pushed back five times, first starting with December 19 to Feburary 27 then March 20, then to April 17, next to May 1, finally to June 12

and you wonder why 2007 has been so dull in rap so far. maybe shit would be hot if anything would ever fucking come out. this is getting absolutely ridiculous. every album gets pushed back at least 3 times before it actually comes out. unless you're jay-z, then you come out on time. funny how that works.

now, i understand if shit isnt done, it cant come out on time. but if shit isnt done, DONT MAKE A RELEASE DATE FOR IT then.

the internet has had a huge effect on the amount of albums that move units, no doubt, but i firmly believe record companies being fucking stupid and pushing albums back has a good deal to do with it as well. they let a single get spins on the radio and then all the buzz for the album dies down before it actually comes out. (Note: this is exactly what happened to Rich Boy and exactly what DIDNT happen to Jim Jones because his album was out like 2 weeks later.)

As a lover of hip hop, this whole situation just makes me pissed off. As much as I make fun of Papoose for dropping about 60 mixtapes after his album was coming out in "2005" (forget what tape Kay Slay yells it out on, but its definitely one of his 17 official Streetsweepers jawns), but at least he's putting something out, somehow some way. Everyone else just drops a street single, is hot for a week, and then falls back off the Earth.

sigh.
